On Friday, December 15th Saddlebrooke Rotary joined with Impact of Southern Arizona and the Oracle Community Center to host a fantastic Christmas dinner for area seniors.  The dinner included turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls, green beans, and cake and cookies for dessert.  The meal was plentiful and the guests were also provided with a take-home box.  A special thanks to Bub's Grub for donating the turkey. dressing and gravy and to Impact for providing great gifts and prizes.  The Oracle Community Center donated the use of the center.

Volunteers from Rotary Club of Saddlebrooke, Impact, and Oracle Community Center all pitched in to prepare the meals, serve, and clean up.

Volunteers were abundant from all organizations.  The following Rotarians joined in:

Thank You!!

As many are aware, club members, John and Linda Howard, have been champions for donating hygiene items to IMPACT of Southern Arizona.  These much needed items are provided to individuals and families to help stretch their household budgets.  Our member, Elaine Terry went above and beyond when she bravely asked her dentist, Dr. Jess Haymore of Innovation Dental, to help.  Happily,  Dr Haymore was pleased for the opportunity and donated boxes of toothbrushes and toothpaste!  Another great example of service!

This IMPACT event was held on Saturday Nov 18 at Santa Catalina Catholic Church,

23 members from our Club and one student from Interact at San Manuel participated. Our team helped with traffic control, check-in of families and the distribution of the turkeys and sides.

IMPACT had turkeys and sides for 350 families .

We got rained on a bit but no one melted😊

Overall a great event that helped to make a difference in the lives of these families and the communities we touch.

While we have Veterans Day in the fall and Memorial Day in the spring, our servicemen and women sacrifice their time and safety every single day of the year, to preserve our freedoms. In many American homes, every day there is an empty seat for one who is serving or one who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and never came home. That is why the Wreaths Across America mission to Remember, Honor and Teach lasts all year long, far beyond the single day in December when we coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies. All throughout the year, Wreaths Across America works in a number of ways to show our veterans and their families that we will not forgetβ€”we will never forget.
